EchoStar’s Dish Network Review on Hold

CHICAGO EchoStar’s search for an agency to handle a Dish Network branding project has stalled, but may be resurrected in the fall, according to sources.

The Englewood, Colo., satellite television provider had narrowed its search to three agencies: Publicis Groupe-backed Bartle Bogle Hegarty in New York, Interpublic Group’s Campbell Mithun in Minneapolis and independent The Romann Group in New York, sources said. Campbell Mithun’s Cash Plus Media Services handles media on the account, while The Romann Group has completed creative projects for the company.

The agencies either could not be reached or declined comment. A company representative would not comment about the status of the review.

The size and nature of the branding project was not known, but it was expected to involve television, sources said.

The Dish Network spent $120 million on advertising last year, according to Nielsen Monitor-Plus. The project in question was expected to be worth a small fraction of that amount, according to sources.
