Draftfcb N.Y. Names Sandy Kolkey President

Sandy Kolkey has been named president of Interpublic Group’s Draftfcb in New York, effective immediately. He succeeds Peter DeNunzio in that role.

Kolkey (pictured) reports to Mark Modesto, president of Draftfcb North America. Kolkey most recently was evp, group management director at Draftfcb Chicago, responsible for the Boeing, Dow, Diners Club, Blue Cross Blue Shield, MoneyGram and Chicago Cubs accounts.

In a statement, Laurence Boschetto, the agency’s global CEO and president, said: “Following Mark Modesto’s appointment as president of Draftfcb North America last fall, Mark, Peter and the rest of the North American leadership team have been creating a new strategy for the region and reshaping the role of the individual offices. As we move to implement our new strategy in New York, Peter has decided to step down as president of the office to pursue another opportunity outside the agency. We are grateful for his many contributions to the New York agency and we wish him well.”

Kolkey brings a quarter century of experience to the post, with tenures on both the client and agency sides of the business.

He joined the client service training program at Leo Burnett in 1983, and remained at that agency for 14 years, working in Chicago, Hong Kong and Australia on Kellogg and McDonald’s. Kolkey then spent one year in Australia as director of marketing for Kellogg. He also spent a year as svp of brand management and advertising at Discover Card. Later, he joined Integrated Merchandising Systems, where he spent almost five years running the Sears, Walgreens, Diageo, Kellogg and Chicago Tribune accounts.
