Doremus Hits Winning Streak In High-Tech

The past five months have seen Doremus double the billings of its office here to more than $25 million with four new business wins: UMAX Technologies, Channelpoint, and Kingston Technology.
All of the accounts are Internet- or technology-related, which marks a new direction for Doremus, which has traditionally focused primarily on financial clients.
“Technology and financial services are the most dynamic sectors of the economy,” said Garrett Lawrence, executive vice president and general manager of Doremus, San Francisco. “This agency has a strong history in the financial category, but now we’re focusing our energy and expertise on acquiring not just new business-to-business accounts, but building our high-tech [client] base.”
Doremus, which has been working with Fountain Valley, Calif.-based memory technology developer Kingston for several years, was officially named agency of record in December following a review of several undisclosed agencies. The agency is preparing to launch interactive, direct marketing and print advertising campaigns for Kingston targeting the IT community.
Doremus will help launch the push service with a print and direct marketing campaign that will break nationally in August or September. The agency also created a logo for the Orange County-based company, and is assisting with the development of its Web site.
The shop is crafting similar advertising efforts for scanner manufacturer UMAX Technologies, Fremont, Calif., and Channelpoint, a software developer in Colorado Springs, Colo., that recently launched a Web site that automates various insurance processing steps.
With all this new business, Doremus is staffing up. The agency has grown from four employees last November to 15, and Lawrence said he wants at least 20-25 staffers on board by year’s end.
