Doner Lands

CHICAGO has selected independent agency Doner to handle its estimated $10 million advertising account after a review, according to the shop.

Doner will handle the account at its Southfield, Mich., headquarters. Its first work is expected in spring 2006. is a division of Lending Tree, which is owned by Barry Diller’s InterActive Corp. The account was previously at Interpublic Group’s Mullen in Wenham, Mass., which will continue to handle Lending Tree’s $70 million account.

“Doner has demonstrated a strong track record of working with complex, leading brands like and having expertise in such areas as online marketing, home services and retail,” said IAC financial services and real estate CEO Tom Reddin, in a statement. “That experience, combined with a clear strategic vision and a unique creative concept, makes Doner the right partner to move forward.”

Participants in the review were independent The Richards Group in Dallas, Omnicom Group’s Element 79 in Chicago and Havas’ Arnold in Boston, according to sources. Consultant Hasan + Co., Raleigh, N.C., conducted the review.

Billings were not disclosed. The Charlotte, N.C.-client spent only $2 million on advertising through November 2005, according to Nielsen Monitor-Plus. Sources, however, indicated the account could be worth as much as $10 million.
