Digitas Adds FleetBoston, Terra Lycos Assignments\

Digitas has been selected by Terra Lycos to develop and implement a global e-commerce plan in the Spanish- and Portuguese-language markets. Separately, the agency has been hired by FleetBoston Financial for an estimated $5-7 million in online chores, sources said.

Neither FleetBoston nor an agency spokesperson would comment. Digitas bested the Cambridge, Mass., offices of Agency.com and Razorfish in a review led by consulting firm Pile and Co., Boston. Zentropy Partners, Cambridge, had been working with FleetBoston, which Digitas will now handle out of its headquarters here.

The agency will work on Terra Lycos from its Latin American office, located in Miami. “Our objective is to help this … company develop a seamless, customer-centric Web experience by creating new services and sources of revenue,” said Ruben Pinchanski, president of Digitas Latin America.

“[Digitas] will be working with us to leverage our existing Internet platform,” said Antonio Garcia-Urgeles, president of Latin American operations for Terra Lycos. Specific duties were not spelled out, but such assignments for Digitas have routinely included Web site development and the creation of online advertising.

Headquartered in Barcelona, Spain, Terra Lycos was formed through the merger of Terra Networks and Lycos, the Waltham, Mass., Internet portal. Hill, Holliday, Connors, Cosmopulos, Boston, is lead agency for the Lycos brand and has launched image ads themed “Whatever you’re into, dig into it deeper on Lycos.”
