Mercari will air its first-ever Super Bowl ad during the upcoming Big Game, said the company’s brand marketing director Walter Hangad, allowing the resale marketplace to reach an audience as broad and diverse as its customer base.

“It’s one of the biggest events of the year that brings us all together,” said Hangad.

The 15-second spot, which is expected to run in the third quarter, illustrates the beauty of passing on unused items, according to Mercari. It’s a tone that fits naturally with the Super Bowl, which is also about “joy” and “connectedness,” Hangad said.
