Drummers, often hidden behind their cymbals and tom-toms at the back of the stage, are placed in the spotlight in Lane Advertising’s first print ads for Vic Firth drumsticks.
One execution created by the Salem, Mass., agency shows a buff, shirtless guy effusing emotion and perspiration. The text reads: “Well you know he doesn’t play the sax.”
Drummers in general are “somewhat different from everyone else,” said agency principal Keith Lane. “They’re a group of people who love to hang out together, share stories and play the perfect riff –they’re not outcasts, but they’re the rebels of the group.”
