Tim Mapes is a big believer in pent-up demand.

As the chief marketing and communications officer of Delta Air Lines, he is optimistic about a rapid recovery once the pandemic ebbs and concerns about air travel lift.

“There’s a great concept called ‘revenge spending.’ Americans, by their nature, are optimists—[they] look forward and plan, and we’ve all been denied the ability to plan,” said Mapes in conversation with Adweek’s Nadine Dietz at our Outlook 2021: The Year in Marketing and Media virtual event.
