Your friends’ smug “If you know, you know” travel posts will only get worse this year.

With much of the world ready to travel again—and the airline industry only modestly ready for their return—any inside information a passenger can get is vital. An Amex Travel survey notes that 86% of consumers expect to spend as much or more on travel than they did during the pandemic. 

They’re making good on that promise, as the Transportation Department’s Bureau of Transportation Statistics notes that the number of people staying home during the first week for February dropped from 81 million last year to 73.3
