OfficeMax is expected to move its $40 million ad account to Omnicom’s DDB in Chicago following a review, sources said last week. IPG’s McCann-Erickson in New York and WPP’s Young & Rubicam in Chicago were the other contenders, said sources. In May the retailer shifted its account to WPP’s J. Walter Thompson, here, from Publicis in New York. Boise Cascade agreed to buy OfficeMax for $1.2 billion in cash and stock in July; the deal is likely to close by December.
