CHICAGO DDB Chicago laid off 18 employees this week across all disciplines, an agency representative said.

The personnel cuts, which account for less than 3 percent of the agency’s workforce of roughly 750, were a result of the shop’s steps to “align costs and revenues due to the continued soft economy,” the representative said.

The layoffs were the first job cuts at DDB this year. Economic conditions forced the shop to dismiss about 40 staffers last year.
