CHICAGO — The Illinois Lottery awarded its $20 million account to DDB Chicago, following a review.

DDB bested Chicago shops Leo Burnett, J. Walter Thompson and Euro RSCG Tatham Partners.

Incumbent Ogilvy & Mather, Chicago, declined to participate. The review initially involved 13 agencies. The new contract is under negotiation, but will likely be for two years with two optional one-year renewals.

“The new agency’s assignment will be to develop an integrated marketing communications plan that further extends the current “Players have more fun” branding campaign…,” said Cathy Beres, the Lottery’s director of marketing, in a statement.
