Davis Helms Cannes Film, Press Juries

NEW YORK Craig Davis, worldwide chief creative officer of JWT, has been named jury president for the Film and Press competitions at the 2008 Cannes Lions.

“The fact that Craig has experienced different cultures, is in a global leadership position and has demonstrated a clear track record of creative achievement makes him ideally suited to be the Cannes Film and Press jury president,” said Terry Savage, festival chairman.

Davis has been global creative chief of JWT since 2005. He was named worldwide creative director after moving to London the year prior as the creative chief for Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Born and raised in Australia, Davis, after starting his own shop, left that ad market in 1999 to join Saatchi & Saatchi as executive creative director in Singapore. In 2000, he was promoted to regional executive creative director, based in Hong Kong.

Davis said of his appointment in a statement: “Great creativity can and does come from anywhere. What I love about Cannes is that it recognizes this truth across multiple disciplines on a scale unmatched by any other awards festival. It’s an honor to be leading the search for the world’s best creativity in film and press advertising in 2008.”

The 55th Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival will take place in Cannes, France, June 15-21.
