Dack Takes New Post at SFM/Media Planning

SFM/Me-dia Planning has tapped eclectic agency veteran Jeri Dack to fill the newly created post of evp, director of integrated services, responsible for connecting the agency’s var-ious elements.

Dack joins the shop from Media-Vest Worldwide in New York, where she was svp, media director. She has had an unconventional 25-year career that has included positions as an account planner, account executive and media director. She will report to Steve Farella, evp and COO of SFM/Media Planning in New York.

“There isn’t a meeting we go to where the conversation doesn’t turn from media to in-store marketing, promotion, the Internet, direct marketing, etc.,” said Farella. “Because of Jeri’s background in understanding brand equity, I believe she’s going to be phenomenal at integrating these services. But I think most importantly, she is the only media professional in this business who has spent almost 10 years as an account planner.”

It was not known at press time who will re-place her at MediaVest.

Dack began her career in the media department of the former Benton & Bowles, working on Procter & Gamble. She then moved to account planning and served as svp, director of media and consumer planning and account director at then-named Hill, Holliday/Altschiller. She joined MediaVest in 1998.

For Dack, the new position is an opportunity to reunite with Farella, with whom she worked at Benton & Bowles, and to take advantage of what she described as “a great personal opportunity.”

“SFM is growing and expanding in the U.S., integrating the various communications parts of the com-pany—the Havas and Media Planning pieces that have never really been funneled together,” she said. “It’s very much an eclectic job. I have a unique background in the business, having worked in every area of an ad agency except creative, so to go to a company that is handpicking me be-cause of those things is why I’m taking the job.”

SFM/Media Planning claims an-nual billings in the U.S. of more than $1 billion. Parent company Media Planning, which is based in Madrid, Spain, is the global media network of French agency Havas and claims billings of more than $5 billion.
