Curtain Rises on Film Channel Review

LOS ANGELES The Sundance Channel is seeking an agency to handle a creative project, the client confirmed.

Billings were undisclosed. Sources estimate the budget to be $2-3 million.

Advertising for the channel has primarily been handled in-house, said client representative Sarah Eaton.

Four shops are vying for the business: Maxxcom’s Crispin Porter + Bogusky in Venice, Calif., and independent agencies JohnsonSheen in Portland, Ore., Modernista! in Boston and Powell in New York, the client confirmed.

Linda Ong of Truth Consulting in New York is leading the search.

Pitches begin this week at the agencies, sources said. A decision by the New York-based client is expected by early June.

The Sundance Channel is partly owned by Robert Redford, who founded the Salt Lake City-based Sundance Institute in 1981.
