Crystal Coast Picks Zimmerman Agency

ATLANTA The Zimmerman Agency has won a review for the Crystal Coast Development Authority’s advertising and public relations account, the shop said.

The incumbent, independent Faulkner & Associates Advertising in Greenville, N.C., defended the account, estimated at between $1.5 million and $2 million. The finalists in the review included Tinsley Advertising in Miami, Barber Martin Advertising in Richmond, Va., and Brogan & Partners in Cary, N.C.

Zimmerman is developing broadcast, print and Internet advertising for the Authority. The first work is scheduled to launch in November.

Plans include placing print ads in newspapers in Richmond and Atlanta, in addition to the North Carolina cities of Raleigh and Charlotte. Print ads also are scheduled for regional travel and lifestyle magazines. Television spots also will air in those cities. The Internet work includes redesigning the client’s Web site.

The Crystal Coast stretches along the southern region of the outer banks of North Carolina and includes the towns of Morehead City, Beaufort, Emerald Isle, Atlantic Beach and the Cape Lookout National Seashore. The three barrier islands along the coast include Shackleford Banks, where the only inhabitants are wild horses that are descendants of Spanish equines rescued from ships containing the nation’s early colonists.

“Our team has an opportunity to weave stories rich in American history with the lure and lore of the finest diving waters in the country, and beaches and accommodations that have a tradition all their own,” said Curtis Zimmerman, agency partner.

Zimmerman also represents Florida’s Emerald Coast and Space Coast, the Sarasota, Fla., Convention and Visitors Bureau and the Tallahassee/Leon County (Fla.) Tourist Development Council.

Omnicom Group’s Zimmerman & Partners in Miami acquired The Zimmerman Agency in July.
