Cronin Judged Best at Conn. Awards

BOSTON Cronin & Co. on Thursday won best of show at the Advertising Club of Connecticut’s 51st annual awards for creative excellence.

Glastonbury, Conn.-based Cronin took the top prize for its “Romantic Vacation” TV spot for the Connecticut Lottery. The commercial takes place in a suburban living room, with a couple discussing how to spend their Mega Money winnings. The wife envisions a getaway. The husband, however, has already ordered home electronics and other “toys” being unpacked on the front lawn.

Adams & Knight in Avon, Conn., took home 25 total prizes, tops for the night.

Mintz & Hoke won the gold pen for copywriting for a University of Hartford print campaign. Outhouse Communications won the gold brush for art direction for People’s Bank posters.

The event was held at the Radisson Hotel in Cromwell, Conn., and several hundred agency and client staffers attended. Matt Scott of WTNH-TV served as master of ceremonies.
