Creative Rep Company Makes Debut

LOS ANGELES SternWorld Creative Management opens its doors today to represent a roster of firms in advertising, entertainment marketing, promotion and design, said company founder Andrea Stern.

The Venice, Calif.-based company has already signed brand strategists Big Fish Marketing and its divisions Little Pond and FishNet, which recently finished the online promotional campaign for ABC’s Threat Matrix. SternWorld also represents TwinArt, headed by creative directors and designers Ellen and Lynda Kahn, who designed on-air graphics for WE, Women’s Entertainment Television network, as well as a graphics package for the 2003 Radio Music Awards, which airs tonight on NBC.

Other clients include advertising, promotion and design firm Jacobsrahi, which created campaigns for Fox’s The O.C. and FX’s Nip/Tuck; The Thomas Cobb Group, which recently completed work on CBS’ Navy: NCIS and is working on a campaign for A&E’s Biography Countdown; and The Engine Room, led by visual-effects supervisor Dan Schmit, which recently completed a job for Fox Sports Net’s college football package.

Stern said that in addition to those companies, she will represent individuals such as creative director Juan Rosenfeldt and motion graphics designer Ismael Obregon. Stern also represents her husband, commercial music composer and producer Shepard Stern, and his company, Sternworld Productions.

Stern said she has applied the model of commercial industry reps who handle directors in various specialties to the area of the business that needs to stay lean. “The fragmentation of the industry and demise of some of the biggest graphic design companies left a number of boutiques specializing in their own thing,” said Stern. “But these small companies are missing sales, marketing and promotion. I am able to fill a need for that within this community and provide synergy among them.”

Stern, who started as a commercial and music video line producer, most recently was president and founder of Lab903 in Santa Monica, Calif. Before that, she had produced for Pittard Sullivan and worked as director of accounts at Novocom.
