ConocoPhillips has awarded U.S. planning and buying duties to KSL Media after a review, sources said.

Sources identified the other finalists as independents Horizon Media in Los Angeles and Palisades Media in Santa Monica, Calif. The Encino, Calif., office of KSL, also an independent, is expected to handle the business.

KSL succeeds independent FMK in Houston on the account.

The client’s major media spending totaled $11 million in the first 11 months of 2009 and nearly $25 million for all of ’08, according to Nielsen.
