Conn. Agency Readies West Coast Entry

BOSTON Independent shop Creative Partners said it will open an office in the Los Angeles area, led by newly hired vice president Tali Kaplan, who will oversee the agency’s life sciences practice, focusing on clients in biotechnology and healthcare.

Her career has included positions with Genentech and Baxter Healthcare, where she was vice president of global communications, and a former client of Creative Partners.

Kaplan will lead the agency’s efforts for West Coast clients including Health Net in Woodland Hills, Calif., and Integral Development Corp. in Mountain View, Calif. The shop looks to hire more staffers under Kaplan as its roster on the West Coast expands.

Peter Schelfhaudt, agency CEO, described Kaplan’s arrival as “a milestone in our ongoing efforts to bring Creative Partners’ expertise to one of industry’s most dynamic sectors. Tali Kaplan, whose experience includes business strategy development, branding and crisis management, will greatly speed up that effort.”

Stamford, Conn.-based Creative Partners has about 25 employees and $20 million in overall billings. The shop expanded its service offerings in June, absorbing crosstown public relations shop Emmanuel Kerr Kilsby.
