Cliff Freeman Hires Abramson as Executive VP

NEW YORK Neal Abramson has joined the staff of Cliff Freeman and Partners after several months as a consultant there, the agency said.

His appointment as evp, director of strategic and business development is effective Jan. 1, 2004. The post has been vacant since June when Charles Rosen left the independent New York agency with two other staffers to form Amalgamated, also in New York.

Abramson, 39, had been a staffer at Omnicom Group’s Zimmerman & Partners, a Fort Lauderdale, Fla., retail ad agency that helped Cliff Freeman pitch and win the estimated $50 million Value City/DSW account last year. Abramson then left Zimmerman to be a consultant to Cliff Freeman. At that time he was working on the Autonation and Tyco accounts at Zimmerman.

In a statement, shop CEO Freeman said, “Neal is extremely experienced and talented at both diagnosing a client’s macro situations as well as implementing solutions ranging from advertising to store placement and design, price point analysis and product development. He is the perfect match for what this agency is becoming.”

Last week, Cliff Freeman and Partners was awarded a creative project from TBS. Its current clients are Mohegan Sun, Fox Sports, Hollywood Video and Value City/DSW.

Omnicom acquired Abramson’s agency, the Ad Team, in 2000 and merged it with Zimmerman.
