Clear Channel Outdoor Friday turned to cable and broadband TV exec Ron Cooper as its new chief executive for the Americas.

He replaces Paul Meyer, who was expected to exit the outdoor media giant by the end of the year.

Prior to joining the company, Cooper served as president and chief operating officer at Adelphia Communications, the bankrupt cable company that was sold to Time Warner Cable and Comcast in 2006. Before that, Cooper was COO for AT&T Broadband.

“Along with his extensive experience, Ron brings a superior track record of results in improving operating performance, service quality and building effective teams,” said Mark Mays, CEO of Clear Channel Outdoor, to whom Cooper reports.
