Changes at Top In Dooner’s Plan

John Dooner last week initiated his first personnel moves since returning to McCann-Erickson WorldGroup in February.

Sources said the CEO has had a chance to assess the strengths of his top executives and decide what needs to be emphasized further. His plan calls for a clearer assignment of leaders in WorldGroup’s three core areas: staffing, creative and revenue growth, sources said.

Marcio Moreira, worldwide chief creative officer, director on multinational accounts, has been overseeing creative with Jonathan Cranin, worldwide creative director of multinational accounts. Moreira has also been sharing multinational account supervision (Nestlé, Johnson & Johnson, MasterCard) with vice chairman Hank Wasiak. Sources said Moreira will continue to oversee those accounts and also focus more on global staffing resources, including hiring, training and development. WorldGroup director of research and insight development Joe Plummer will assist him.

Cranin and chief strategy officer Eric Einhorn will be responsible for the integrity and quality of worldwide creative, sources said.

Dooner and WorldGroup CFO Art D’Angelo will focus on revenue growth with WorldGroup North America director of business development Margie Altschuler.

Director of corporate development Kevin Allen, who also works on new business, may be offered an operational role with IPG or with Gunnar Wilmot at The Partnership, sources said. Wilmot is currently svp, planning and business development at IPG.

Sources said Dooner is also looking to tap someone within WorldGroup for an operational role.
