NEW YORK Colin Hearn, the chief executive of Cordiant Communications Group’s 141 Worldwide marketing services unit, has handed in his notice, he confirmed on Thursday. His resignation comes as CCG prepares to be bought by WPP Group.

“I took a decision that my first duty was to get our clients and people into safe harbor … I do believe that WPP is an excellent home for Cordiant.
