Already purported to be the most costly public works project in the nation’s history, the $11 billion Central Artery/Tunnel Project is preparing to spend an additional $750,000 for communications assistance.
The Big Dig is looking to hire an agency for calendar year 1998, which is expected to be a “peak construction period for the project,” said Mary Fifield, the consultant overseeing the search process.
Review materials have been sent to about 15-20 advertising and public relations firms mainly in Massachusetts, though having a Bay State presence is not a prerequisite, Fifield said.
