CD&M Brews Coffee Push

BOSTON New England Coffee expands into new markets with its first campaign from CD&M Communications.

One outdoor execution shows a large cup of New England Coffee in the foreground of a village illustration featured in previous campaigns for the Malden, Mass.-based client. “Thanks to us, there are no sleepy little villages,” copy reads.

Another ad, with the same graphics, reads, “When winter lasts nine months, the coffee better be good.”

The effort begins appearing today in Hartford, Conn.; Springfield, Mass.; and Albany and Schenectady, N.Y., over the next six months. New England Coffee has been sold at Stop & Shop, Shaw’s and other supermarkets in the region since the late 1990s; now, it looks to broaden its reach into New York State and with its introduction in Schenectady-based Price Chopper supermarkets, according to agency partner Duncan Stout.

Spending through the Portland, Maine, agency is expected to be in the six figures. Print and radio ads are planned for late 2003 or early next year, Stout said.
