CCBN Adds Sears for Webcasts

BOSTON Melissa Sears hopes to boost CCBN’s Webcasting capabilities beyond investor relations conferences in her new position as senior marketing manager at the online communications company.

“CCBN has such a strong position in the investor relations Webcasting space,” Sears said. “We want to take that to enterprise Webcasting for public relations and other marketing services to help [clients] get the most for their marketing dollars.”

In the newly created position, she reports to vp, marketing Greg Radner, working closely with the Boston-based company’s broadcast division and its sales, quality assurance and product development staff.

“As we started to expand our Webcasting services outside of our traditional focus on investor relations, I felt it was important to bring in a dedicated marketing person who would concentrate on driving our efforts to reach this new audience, with everything from pricing and packaging to increasing brand awareness of CCBN’s Webcasting services,” Radner said.

Sears is working in the new capacity with many clients already on CCBN’s Webcast roster, expanding work to reach out not only to the investing community, but also to public relations and other marketing executives. CCBN has recently created internal and external communications Webcasts for companies such as Nextel, Office Depot, Gillette and Reebok.

Overall, CCBN has about 350 employees at its Boston, San Francisco and London offices.

In the future, Sears said, she would like the division to develop a tool to help clients send out e-mail invitations to join Webcasts, as well as to spread awareness of the programs beyond investor sites such as Yahoo! Finance and The Motley Fool.

Sears most recently was director of client services at Biznews24, a Manchester, N.H., interactive communications company, where she worked with clients such as John Hancock Financial Services, New England Financial and Putnam Investments. She also has held marketing positions at Revlon Consumer Products in New York.
