Kristen Cavallo has been promoted to president at Mullen’s flagship Boston office, assuming the role held previously by Alex Leikikh, who was named chief executive in December.

The Interpublic agency cited the contributions of Cavallo, previously chief strategy officer, to new business wins like Acura, American Greetings and U.S. Cellular. She has also spent the last three years growing Mullen’s brand planning and analytics resources, which have grown from six staffers to 30.

While Cavallo will continue to be involved with those operations, she said of her top priorities: “We need to be really strategic about our growth and make sure we continue to do our best work and be a strong magnet for talent.”

Cavallo will not be replaced as chief strategy officer; Lance Koenig and Kelsey Hodgkin have been promoted to co-directors of strategy.
