CHICAGO — Carmichael Lynch has parted ways with IKEA on its $40 million account after only 10 months on the job, according to agency president John Colasanti.

Colasanti said new marketing executives at the Plymouth Meeting, Pa., client had decided to put the account up for review, and the agency opted not to defend. “There was no way I could subject the team, after working so hard, to have to defend this relationship,” Colasanti said.

The Minneapolis agency won the $40 million account, its second largest after Northwest Airlines, last December after a review.
