Carmichael Dominates Regional Show

CHICAGO Interpublic Group’s Carmichael Lynch once again dominated the Advertising Federation of Minnesota’s annual awards show, winning 66 total awards, including best of show honors, at this year’s ceremony.

The best of show win was for the agency’s Jack Link’s television spot, “Shaving Cream,” which depicts hikers playing a practical joke on Sasquatch.

MDC Partners’ Colle + McVoy and independent agency Olson won 35 and 20 awards, respectively.

Olson also won the organization’s inaugural interactive best of show category for its Nike Bauer Hockey Web site. Other interactive winners included Atomic Playpen, Target Corp.’s in-house department and indpendent agency Periscope.

In the student best of show category, Jonathan Kubik and Renee Anderson, both of the Miami Ad School of Minneapolis, won $2,500 each for their proposed campaign for Miele vacuum cleaners. The outdoor effort showed a billboard of a Miele vacuum sucking in large objects such as a satellite and a helicopter.

The show honoring creative efforts from regional shops and clients was held Nov. 15 at the Depot in Minneapolis.

Carmichael Lynch also dominated last year’s competition, winning a total of 66 awards and best of show for an A.G. Edwards television spot.
