NEW YORK Avrett Free Ginsberg has hired Scott Carlson as executive creative director. Carlson takes charge of day-to-day creative operations from chairman Frank Ginsberg.

Carlson will focus on the Dewar’s account and on new business creative, said Ginsberg, adding that the hire did not portend his retirement. “Absolutely not,” he said. “I just signed a long, long, long contract,” with parent company IPG.

Ginsberg said he decided to resign the creative director’s position last year, and had been searching for someone to fill the role for about seven months.
