NEW YORK The parent company of Outback Steakhouse and Carraba’s Italian restaurants hired Aegis Group’s Carat here for media chores on its ad account.

“Carat demonstrated a real energy and interest in understanding our brands and demonstrated they are well suited to help meet our business goals,” said Jody Bilney, chief marketing officer of Outback, in a statement.

WPP’s MindShare and independent Horizon Media, both in New York, were the other finalists.

The assignment includes online and offline media planning and buying, outdoor, digital, direct mail and emerging media.
