Carat Interactive Elevates Gabriner to COO

NEW YORK Carat Interactive has promoted executive vice president, managing director Toby Gabriner to chief operating officer.

In the role, he will oversee all U.S. locations and contribute to the interactive agency’s overall strategy and direction. He absorbs some of the responsibilities previously held by chief financial officer Steve Andrews, who added the post of director of operations in January 2003. Andrews, who is based at Carat Interactive’s Boston headquarters, will retain his role as CFO.

Gabriner, 33, joined Carat Interactive in May 2003 when the Aegis Group i-shop purchased Freestyle Interactive, the San Francisco independent where he was president and chief operating officer.

Carat Interactive president Sarah Fay, to whom Gabriner reports, credited him with nearly doubling the size of the i-shop’s San Francisco office since he came on board. The outpost works with Western Union, Macy’s and The Mill Corp., among other clients, and has landed new assignments from Internet Gaming Network and nCircle in the past year.
