Carat Hires SF Media Director, Marketing Chief

SAN FRANCISCO Aegis-owned Carat Interactive has hired two new managers in the roles of marketing director and group media director, an agency representative said.

Greg Pomaro, 35, was named vice president and group media director of Carat’s San Francisco office and will report to John Cate, who is the national media director. Most recently, Pomaro worked at Grey San Francisco, where he managed online media programs for Oracle, Sun Microsystems and others.

At Carat, Pomaro will oversee media operations and provide guidance for media planning. He will also be responsible for managing new and existing technology practices.

Gordon Abel, 30, has been hired in the new position of director of marketing. He will report directly to Toby Gabriner, president of Carat Interactive. Previously Abel worked at Euro RSCG Worldwide, where he was vice president of interactive strategy and development.

Abel will be responsible for driving the overall national strategy and day-to-day management of Carat Interactive’s brand. He will also work with Carat Interactive’s management team to guide marketing and communication strategies, including public relations, events and working with new business.
