Captain D’s Starts Fishing for New Shop

ATLANTA The Captain D’s chain of quick-service seafood restaurants has launched a review of its $20 million marketing account, the company said.

The Nashville, Tenn.-based company has hired Chicago consultancy Jones Lundin Beals to oversee the process.

The incumbent, Sullivan Higdon & Sink, an independent shop in Kansas City, Mo., said it would not defend. SHS won the business following a review in 2002.

JLB has begun compiling an initial list of invitees, said Stan Beals, managing director of the consultancy. He expects to contact “a dozen or more” shops next month, schedule agency visits in October and make a final selection before the end of November.

Agencies with offices “within a half-day trip” of Nashville are preferred, Beals said.

Changes in client ownership and management appear to be driving the process.
