In an effort to compete with General Mills’ Trix cereal, Quaker Oats Co. is launching another line extension of its popular Cap’n Crunch cereal. Called Deep-Sea Crunch, the cereal is a fruity pre-sweetened cereal with shapes of underwater creatures such as crabs, whales and shells. Although the product is being shipped nationally, it is not clear whether it will be just a summer item or something that will be available all year long. Currently, Quaker has a Christmas Crunch cereal that is available through the Nov.-Jan.
