Cannes Cyber Entries Up by a Quarter

NEW YORK This year’s interactive entries to the Cannes International Advertising Festival increased nearly 25 percent over last year’ 1,244, the organizers said today.

Overall, entries in all categories are up an average of 11.5 percent.

Bob Greenberg, chairman and CEO at Interpublic Group’s R/GA, is leading the 15-person cyber jury. Other U.S. jurors include Kevin Flatt, interactive creative director at Publicis Groupe’s Fallon in Minneapolis, and Sasha Kurtz, creative director at Kirshenbaum Bond + Partners’ Dotglu in New York.

The interactive, press and outdoor award winners will be honored at a ceremony on June 23.

Film entries rose 4 percent from last year, while the press and outdoor categories each tallied a 14.2 percent increase. Submissions in media and direct marketing are up 10.4 percent and 7.5 percent, respectively. The festival plans to release the final number of entries in each category by country at the end of May.
