Calvin Klein Touts Sportswear via TV

DALLAS In an effort to entice holiday shoppers, Calvin Klein breaks a TV effort today for various product lines.

This marks the first TV work for Calvin Klein’s sportswear and related apparel, though it often crafts spots for its underwear and fragrances.

The 30-second commercial was developed by Calvin Klein’s in-house agency CRK Advertising and directed by Fabien Baron of Baron & Baron. Scenes were shot on the streets of downtown Los Angeles and at a private residence in the Hollywood Hills.

The spot mirrors the theme of the brand’s print executions and features models Doutzen Kroes and Gabriel Aubry. The commercial features a voiceover that concludes, “You can make a wish … or you can make it happen. Calvin Klein. A world of style.”

The media buy includes prime-time and late-night shows on ABC, NBC and cable.

Additional airings are planned during the Nov. 22 Madonna concert special as well as the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, both on NBC, and during Dick Clark’s Rockin’ New Year’s Eve on ABC.

The company, a unit of Phillips-Van Heusen, spent nearly $35 million on ads in 2005 and about $20 million during the first half of this year, per TNS Media Intelligence.
