BusterSports Calls on Republik

BOSTON The Republik said it has been selected following a review to handle advertising chores for BusterSports.com, a Web site dedicated to competition between fans of rival college basketball and football teams.
This marks the first lead agency relationship for the client, which will launch a redeveloped site by The Republic in coming weeks. The initial marketing budget is between $500,000-1 million.
Despite the modest spending figure, the new business gives the Durham, N.C.-based shop a chance to demonstrate how its “pull marketing” abilities across interactive, social networking and other channels can lure die-hard team fanatics to the site.
Raleigh, N.C.-based BusterSports presents the opportunity to get paid for creating communications whose chief purpose is to stir the pot between — that is, to piss off — rival sports fans,” said David Smith, Republik creative director.
Other agency clients include Consolidated Shoe, Triumph Boats, Wellcraft Marine, Carver Boats and Community Builders.
