Burnham Joins Director Ranks At Minny Firm

MINNEAPOLIS – Making good on his intentions to leave the agency side of the business for a career in commercial directing, celebrated former Fallon McElligott creative head Pat Burnham joined directing shop Wilson Griak here last week.
The move comes two months after Burnham left Fallon because of a difference of opinion between himself and agency chairman Pat Fallon about Burnham’s role in the agency. Although there had been speculation that Burnham would wind up back at an agency, he maintained all along that he would pursue a career as a commercial director.
‘I feel very good about it,’ Burnham said last week. ‘My first shoot was shooting Joe Pytka for the opening of my reel. If I’m comfortable shooting him, I think I’ll be okay.’
The soft-spoken Burnham, who once dubbed his style as ‘Gonzo Advertising,’ has been filming testimonials from several directors he’s worked with in the past for his reel, which will be done next week.
‘He’s got just about every creative in the Twin Cities pulling for him,’ said Pete Smith, associate creative director for Martin/Williams. ‘Both Steve Griak and Pat are probably two of the classiest people in the business. It’ll be great for the community.’
