A-B’s Management Shuffle

CHICAGO Anheuser-Busch has promoted vice president of brand management Bob Lachky to evp of global industry development, a new position, according to the brewer. Marlene Coulis, a 13-year veteran of the company, will assume Lachky’s post overseeing marketing, the first woman to hold the position.

In the new position, Lachky will be responsible for representing the company with alcohol industry groups and work on the image of the beer sector for the public and within the industry. He will report to A-B president August Busch IV.

Most recently vice president of marketing planning and research and customer satisfaction, Coulis will report to Michael Owens, A-B’s vice president of sales and marketing.

A-B last year spent about $540 million on U.S. advertising, according to Nielsen Monitor-Plus.

Omnicom Group’s DDB in Chicago is the company’s lead agency, though other shops such as Omnicom’s TBWA\Chiat\Day in Playa del Rey, Calif.; Goodby Silverstein & Partners in San Francisco; and independent agency Cannonball in St. Louis also have assignments.
