Bozell Taps ‘Leader’ on Verizon

Bozell New York has named John Mittnacht senior partner, account services to oversee the shop’s largest account, Verizon Wireless.

Mittnacht, 42, who started last week in the new post, will be reunited with Brian Martin, the agency’s managing partner, executive director of account services and bus iness development. The two worked together at Deutsch in New York from 1993-95 on accounts that included LensCraft ers, GNC and Bank of America.

At Bozell, Mittnacht manages 30 staffers and is responsible for its entire $250 million Verizon Wireless account, including marketing, strategic and creative development.

“He’s one of the best account people to work with,” Martin said. “He truly understands and knows good creative work and is a good leader.”

Mittnacht said part of the attraction of working for Bozell was Ver izon Wireless’ name recognition. “The account is larger than most small agencies,” he said. “It’s still a relatively new product and has countless possibilities.”

Mittnacht, who was at Deutsch for seven years, left that shop for Fallon in New York. As the latter’s director of client services, he worked on ABC Sports, MTV Networks, Conseco and Georgia Pacific for nine months and left in December.

Bozell has Verizon Wireless’ na tional brand assignment and its mid-Atlantic region, which includes local retail stores.
