BMC Software Seeks Outside Help For Its Marketing

BMC Software of Houston plans to screen a number of agencies for its advertising account, which is handled in-house.
A BMC representative said the company, which develops software solutions for applications used in mainframe computing environments, was in the “very preliminary stages” of a search and had not yet developed a list of contenders. The representative declined further comment.
The company reported revenues of $730 million for the fiscal year ended March 31, 1998.
According to a corporate fact sheet, BMC employs about 2,800 employees and operates a Bethesda, Md., office to service its federal government clients. Business-to-business print and direct mail account for the bulk of the firm’s current marketing activities. –Steve Krajewsk
