Billock to Depart From Hill, Holliday

BOSTON After a six-month stint, Ann Billock, Hill, Holliday, Connors, Cosmopulos’ first chief marketing officer, will soon part company with the agency, sources said.

Billock’s departure from the Interpublic Group-owned shop was based on mutual dissatisfaction, sources said. Since Billock joined last year, tasked mainly with improving the agency’s new-business performance, the agency has failed to emerge from a two-year drought.

Billock joined the Boston-based agency from consultancy Roth Associates in New York, where she was an evp and managed advertising account reviews [Adweek Online, June 24].

At Hill, Holliday, Billock reported to agency president and chief executive Mike Sheehan, who could not immediately be reached for comment. Billock did not return calls.

Last summer, the agency was cut before the finals of the $165 million Subaru review, and in September was eliminated from the $100 million Charles Schwab review following the semifinal round.

The shop began the new year with mixed results, failing to reach the finals of the $5-10 million TripAdvisor review, but adding media chores on the estimated $25 million E-Loan account.

At the same time Billock joined, the agency brought aboard ex-Kaplan Thaler Group executive Greg Davis for the new post of evp, chief development officer. He also not return a call. Gayle Nyre, director of business development, is also a key player on the new-business team.
