‘Big Brother’ Goes Mobile

NEW YORK Hold the phone…literally.

CBS Mobile has partnered with Verizon Wireless and MediaFlo, a subsidiary of Qualcomm, to create a dedicated channel for Big Brother 8. The show will appear live and continuously on V Cast Mobile TV, free of charge to its subscribers.

The Big Brother reality series follows the lives—the relationships and conflicts—of people who share a house together, having their every move recorded on camera. Housemates convene and vote each other off on a weekly basis.

What this deal means is that fans of the show will have access to hundreds of hours of live programming round-the-clock on their mobile phones beginning Aug. 19 through to the season finale on Sept. 18.

Cyriac Roeding, evp, CBS Mobile, said the partnership offers “the most mobile entertainment possible—allowing you to ‘live’ with the Big Brother houseguests on your phone, 24/7.”

Added Mike Bailey, vp of programming at MediaFlo: “We are excited to provide fans with 24/7 access to the Big Brother house on their own terms—wherever they are and whenever they want.”

MediaFLO combines content, user interface and a multicast network. Its mobile entertainment service, Flo TV, provides full-length simulcast and time-shifted programming.

In addition to the TV channel, other mobile offerings include downloads, special video clips, photos, live breaking house alerts and daily insider summaries delivered straight to cellphones.
