WASHINGTON Charlotte Beers, the former advertising executive who is Undersecretary of State for Public Diplomacy, will resign her position at the State Department in three weeks for health reasons, a State Department official said.

Beers has been under increasing fire for her “Shared Values” campaign targeted at Muslim countries to improve America’s image abroad.
