BBL Grows Tech Roster

New Business Gains Prompt Staff Additions
BOSTON–BBL has landed a trio of assignments that bump up its billings $1.5 million, according to agency president Barbara Sabran.
Epoxy Technology in Billerica, Mass., BlazeNet in Framingham, Mass., and ValpeyFisher in Hopkinton, Mass., have tapped the shop for various duties, including public relations chores, trade show support and Internet services.
The 9-year-old agency specializes in public relations and advertising for companies in the electronics industry. One of BBL’s new clients takes the shop slightly outside its area of expertise.
“The addition of Epoxy Technology enhances our solid position in the high-tech industry, rounding out our client base of electronic OEMs with a company on the manufacturing process side of the business.” BBL’s strong suit, according to Sabran, is “conveying technical products simply.”
In addition to its recent new business success, BBL has added and filled a couple key positions. Angelo Schmidt joined the agency as its first controller and chief financial officer. Schmidt, who previously worked at CSC Consulting in Waltham, Mass., will oversee the shop’s finances and champion its budgeting process.
The agency also named David Chartier MIS manager. Aside from training staff and troubleshooting, Chartier will build secure Web sites that are accessible by clients. Chartier joined the shop from a similar position at NetAccess in Salem, N.H.
Staff additions have prompted Sabran to increase BBL’s employee benefits package, which now includes full medical and dental insurance, a retirement plan with profit sharing, reimbursement for professional development courses, an open-door policy for employee pets and a fitness room.
BBL recently moved into new office space near its former site in Acton, Mass., a rural community about 20 miles west of Boston.
