CHICAGO BBDO has won YMCA’s national $6 million advertising account following a review, sources said.

The Chicago agency bested two or three other finalists from an original list of 10 undisclosed agencies that were invited to participate in the review, sources said.

Incumbent GSD&M in Austin, Texas, did not participate in the review. BBDO and YMCA executives declined to comment.

While relatively small, the account is attractive due to the client’s strong brand name.

The Chicago-based client, which represents nearly 2,500 Y’s nationwide, wants to be seen as a full-service community organization whose amenities range from gang intervention to day care.
