BBDO Scores 7Up, Watsons Overseas

CHICAGO Omnicom Group’s BBDO India has won creative duties on PepsiCo’s 7Up brand in the region after a review.

BBDO, which handles several PepsiCo brands in markets around the world, is the company’s lead U.S. agency. WPP Group’s JWT will remain the client’s overall lead agency in India, however, handling brands such as Pepsi, Mirinda, Tropicana and Slice, according to Punita Lal, the company’s executive director of marketing for India.

“Earning a place on PepsiCo’s agency roster in India has been a strategic goal for BBDO Worldwide for years,” said BBDO worldwide CEO Andrew Robertson. “We are honored to have been given this opportunity.”

The assignment is the first for BBDO India, which was launched to draw upon the network’s Asian operations, as well as RK Swamy BBDO (which had already been established in Asia) and below-the-line property Hansa.

The win is the second for BBDO’s Asian operations in recent weeks. The shop also won Watsons, a health and beauty retailer that operates in 11 markets.

According to sources, combined billings on the 7Up and Watsons account are around $50 million.
