CHICAGO Marty Orzio, formerly an executive creative director at Merkley Newman Harty & Partners in New York, will take over as the chief creative officer of BBDO Chicago.

Orzio, 46, succeeds Phil Gant, 52, as the agency’s top creative. Gant is joining BBDO Detroit as an executive creative director on the DaimlerChrysler business. He will report to chief creative officer Bill Morden. Both personnel moves are effective Feb. 24.

Orzio began his career at Wunderman Worldwide in New York and also worked at Lowe & Partners/SMS in the same city.
